Piano Flash Chords allows the user to select keys, and chords within those keys, to be displayed randomly either automatically, at a user specified rate, or manually, and to be displayed with or without accidentals and with or without inversions, in all major and natural minor scales, for all triads and four note 7th and Major 7th chords. One may also opt to cycle through all inversions of a chord when that chord is selected. Inversions may be displayed with either formal or informal inversion notation.

The automatic display lends itself to being used while at a piano, playing the chords as they appear. Swiping the display up or down will change the speed of the chord display incrementally (a second at a time) from a maximum of 30 seconds to a minimum of 0.5 seconds. The chords can be displayed either diatonically (meaning in the key for which no accidentals need be displayed) or on the C scale with accidentals to show sharps and flats. In automatic mode chords can be displayed either with or without key and chord name identifiers.

The default speed for chord display is settable by the user.

The app can also be used in a flash-card only manual mode. Tapping the Next button will cause the next chord to display. In this mode chords are displayed without key or chord name. Clicking the Identify button will cause the key and chord names to appear on the top of the display. Clicking the Next button will remove that identification and display the next chord.
