Australian Geology Travel Maps is a phone app that operates offline in the field (ie. without a connection to the internet) and delivers interactive geology-terrain maps, old mine workings, gem, gold and metal locations, quarries and geophysical imagery. It is used by prospectors, fossickers, geologists, earth science students, teachers and academics.
Trilobite Solutions understands that the privacy of your data is paramount. All trails and locations that you create within the app are absolutely private. See http://trilobite.solutions/maps/data-security for more detail.
For prospectors working in Western Australia, there is a 'WA prospector' subscription providing a tenements live/pending map, a gold deposits map, both updated regularly with DMIRS data, over 2 million exploration drill holes, and a graticular blocks map for working with 40E permit areas. Visit http://trilobite.solutions for instructions on viewing your 40e permit on your maps.
Gold maps are available for Queensland, NSW & Victoria. These include tenements, and are updated monthly.
Tap on a geology map, and information about the geology at that location is displayed. The geology, terrain, roads, rivers, lakes, towns, rural localities, contours, national parks, forestry reserves, indigenous reserves, and bush-walking tracks for the entire Australian continent are shown on the maps.
The app can talk to you as you are driving, informing you about the geology whenever there is a change. This is very effective at familiarising you with the geology in an area - try out this feature with the simple geology maps.
In addition to simple (GA 1:1 million) geology travel maps, there are detailed geology maps for all states - Western Australia (1:100k & 1:250k), New South Wales (varying merged scales), South Australia (1:100k), Queensland (1:100k & 1:250k), Northern Territory (1:500k) Tasmania (1:25k & 1:250k), and Victoria (1:50k & 1:250k) - using the best available data from the state geological surveys.
Resource overlays are available for every state. Depending on the state, this includes information on the location of metals, minerals, gems, building stone and quarries.
You can download total magnetic intensity images for all of the states, and overlay these as transparencies above the geology maps. These indicate underground geological structures.
A yearly 'App' subscription ($AUD11.99 for Aus. customers) is required to run the app. You are prompted to subscribe when you first run the app, but you are given a 1-week free trial, and if you cancel the subscription during the trial (ie. during the first 7 days of use) there is no cost to you. Note that the ONE subscription enables you to run the app on ALL your Android phones and tablets. It is useful to have it installed on a tablet for the bigger viewing area, as well as your phone which is always with you.
Gold subscription pricing - Aus. customers:
WA prospector - $AUD23.99
QLD gold - $AUD11.99
NSW gold - $AUD11.99
VIC gold - $AUD11.99
3-day free trial for each.
Gold subscriptions are additional to the App subscription.
Note also that the system uses advanced features provided by Google Play Services and on many phones this will require updating before the maps will display - this happens semi-automatically - but please be patient - it can take 5-10 minutes for the update to download and install. If you need any assistance, please don't hesitate to send us an email - we are happy to help.
When in the field, please PUT YOUR PHONE INTO FLIGHT MODE. This greatly extends your phone's battery life.
WARNING: A few Android phones (eg. ZTE85/Telstra Tough Max 2) will not download maps larger than 2GB. This is not the fault of the app and there is a get-around for this problem. Please contact us at http://trilobite.solutions if you have this problem.
